Praying Psalm 91 As A Prayer

   Praying Psalm 91 As A Prayer

Psalm 91 is my go to prayer it is so full of so many of Abba Father’s promises for us, and it is known as the prayer of protection given to us through His Holy Spirit.

 Just remember when you are praying this prayer of protection it was written in the Old Testament and we do not live under the law of the Old Testament but though the law of grace which is of the New Testament which Jesus came to give us in abundance.

You will find below that I have written Psalm 91 one as it is written in the Bible and then I have wrote it in a prayer form, to help make it easier for you.

This prayer can be like an emergency prayer to Abba Father, like a 000/911 call to Abba Father. You can call out or cry out to Abba Father quoting one verse in an emergency or you can prayer it in its full entirety. For instance when you feeling upset and hurt you can pray; “I dwell in the secret place of the Most High and I rest in the shadow of Your wings. For I say of You Lord that You are my refuge and my fortress my God in who I trust”.

I have had people say to me, “That it’s not right to take a verse out of a chapter in the Bible, because you are taking it out of text”. My answer to that is “No the Bible was written in such a way that this is one of the ways that Abba Father intended it to be used. This is actually what Jesus did in the desert when He was being tempted by the devil”. See here for Jesus take a verse out of Deuteronomy to tear down the tactics of the enemy without any effort.

Matthew 4:1-11

1 Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”

Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God,’” (Jesus quoting is from Deuteronomy 8:3).

Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written:

“‘He will command his angels concerning you,
    and they will lift you up in their hands,
    so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’” (Satan quoting from Psalm 91:11-12 but he is miss quoting the Scripture, just like the enemy to twist the very word of God to deceive you).

Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’” (Jesus is quoting from Deuteronomy 6:16).

Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.”

10 Jesus said to him“Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’” (Jesus is quoting from Deuteronomy 6:13)

11 Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him.

See Jesus is showing and teaching us here how to pray and how important it is to know at least Abba Father’s promises for us which are written all the way through the Bible for us in our times of Need. Jesus is also showing us that even Satan knows the Bible that well to twist it around and deceive us, for he is the father of lies.

Psalm 91

1He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress;

“My God, in Him I will trust.”

Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler
and from the perilous pestilence.
He shall cover you with His feathers,

and under His wings you shall take refuge;
His truth shall be your shield and buckler.
You shall not be afraid of the terror by night,
nor of the arrow that flies by day,
nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness,
nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.

A thousand may fall at your side,
and ten thousand at your right hand;
but it shall not come near you.
Only with your eyes shall you look,

and see the reward of the wicked.

Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge,
even the Most High, your dwelling place,
10 no evil shall befall you,

nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;
11 For He shall give His angels charge over you,
to keep you in all your ways.
12 In their hands they shall bear you up,
lest you dash your foot against a stone.
13 You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra,
the young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.

14 “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him;
I will set him on high, because he has known My name.
15 He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him;

I will be with him in trouble;
I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him,
And show him My salvation.”

Here is Psalm 91 written out as I pray it at the moment. Sometimes I prayer it for myself like this and other times I pray it for other and replace the “I” with their name or names. You don’t have to quote it word for word, be lead by the Holy Spirit and pray how the Holy Spirit might lead you as well.

1 I pray and I say that I dwell in the secret place of the Most High and I rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

2 I say of You Lord, that You are my refuge and my fortress; my Abba Father, in who I trust.

3 You save me from the fowler snare and from the deadly pestilence.

4 You cover me with Your feathers, and Your wings in Your temple I have found refuge. Your truth, Your faithfulness, and Your blood are my shield and rampart.

5 I will not fear the terror by night, nor the arrow that flies by day,

6 Nor of the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday, nor the business that comes at midday.

7 A thousand may fall at my side and ten thousand at my right hand; it will not come near me.

8 I will observe with my eyes and see the punishment of the wicked.

9 Because I have made the Lord, my refuge, even the Most High my dwelling place,

10 No evil will come near me or my dwelling place,

11 For You command Your angels concerning me, to guard me in all my ways.

12 They lift me up in their hands, to keep me from falling both spiritually, physically, and emotionally so that I will not come to any harm in any way.

13 I will subdue the lion and the cobra, and I will trample the little lion, the storms, and the serpent and his lies, deceit and trickery under my feet.

14 Abba Father, You say, “Because You love me and I trust You, That You save me and You protect me.

15 When I call to You, You answer me You will be with me when I’m in times of trouble. You rescue me and honor me.

16 You will give me a long life and You show me Your power to save, Your Salvation.

In Jesus name I pray this prayer, Hallelujah and Amen.

Who Remembers The Mr Whippy Van

                                    Who Remembers The Mr. Whippy Van Who remembers the Mr. Whippy van driving around the neighborhood of Melbourne, Victoria? I do, it was one of my precious memories of growing up. He would play his music on his loud speaker so that everyone no matter where you were could hear that Mr. Whippy was coming. We would all run out of the house so watch him coming especially on those really hot afternoons. While you would wait you could see all the other children and parents running out to their nature strips to purchase one of his yummy soft serve ice creams. Sometimes my parents would buy us all one and sometimes they wouldn’t. Now as a grownup I realize that they couldn’t always afford to buy us all one. But that still didn’t stop us from running out to watch Mr. Whippy do his thing. Mr. Whippy looked the splitting image of Elvis Presley. We used to think he had left his job and come to serve us ice cream and sing to us in Tottenham. Because we didn’t r
