A Memory Quilt To Their Love Around You

A Memory Quilt To Their Love Around You

After we have lost a loved one, we miss so many things of them and about them; we just miss them so much. One of the things that a lot a people can’t bring themselves to do after their loved one has passed away is to throw out all their belongings, especially their cloths.

There are so many different reasons for this; some are the memories of them when they wore that outfit, the finality of it all, holding onto their belongs makes them feel that a part of them is still with them. Why? One of the reasons is their own personal body odor is in them (and I’m not talking about BO, it’s very different to BO). No matter how many times the clothes are washed you can still smell their own special smell about them. This is also one of the things that can bring us good memories, comfort, and peace, it’s just like they are with you once again, even though we know that their not.

This is what makes it so special to have a memory cushion made out of their favorite shirt, or their best dress. I was given 2 very beautiful dresses to make a memory cushion out of them, but I just couldn’t find anything that would suit the dresses and the special little person they were for. This special little person was missing having her Nanny around her all the time and not having her around her for Christmas a couple of years ago, was just upsetting her so much. I had 4 weeks to figure it all out and have it delivered for Christmas and of course I just couldn’t keep it simple, it had to be special.

Then an idea popped into my head for a memory quilt. Then the ideas just kept on flowing.

So the planning started, I built up courage to cut the dress up. Once the first cut was done it became easier. I cut out all of the butterfly with my Sizzex machine and cutters, fortunately I had the right butterfly cutters and in 3 different sizes.

Next I went to a photo printing place and got him to print out a black silhouette lady. I cut her out and then placed the butterflies around her to see how it was all going to work.

Then I ironed on the visa flex (appliqué paper) and then ironed everything onto the fabric for the front of the quilt, and of course more butterflies had to be cut and ironed on to.

Next was time to appliqué everything.

Then sew all the bead work on and then it was time to hand appliqué because I couldn’t machine appliqué. I wanted a ripple effect to be showing that the effect the little ones Nanny’s actions is a ripple effect in everyone’s lives around her.

Of course I used my machine embroidery machine to place the memory quilt was too and who it was from.

This little one just loved it and whenever she misses her Nanny she just wraps herself up in her Nannies love.

Since then I have heard that you can even make memory bears which is another great idea.

I do hope you found some inspiration from this and an idea of what you could do with your loved ones special clothing.

I pray that you will know the comforting arms of our Lord Jesus because He longs to comfort you with a love that no one else could ever give. In Jesus name I pray. Hallelujah and Amen.

How I Built A Mountain with Toilet Paper And PVC Glue

How I Built A Mountain with  Toilet Paper                             And PVC Glue  There are many techniques to use to cover your mountains and hills, like using plaster of paradise or paper Mache using paper and home made glue. I did give much consideration into using one of these two techniques, but the technique I finally decided to use, was toilet paper and PVC glue. And I am really glad I have. Because now it is finished, it is as hard as a rock but light like fibre glass. It was kind of funny at the time choosing this technique been as in this time when I had decided to start doing this, toilet paper was very hard to get and you had to que up to buy just one packet. And no I wasn't one of those people that had an abundance of it left over and needed to figure out how to use it...

Who Remembers The Mr Whippy Van

Who Remembers The Mr. Whippy Van Who remembers the Mr. Whippy van driving around the neighborhood of Melbourne, Victoria? I do, it was one of my precious memories of growing up. He would play his music on his loud speaker so that everyone no matter where you were could hear that Mr. Whippy was coming. We would all run out of the house so watch him coming especially on those really hot afternoons. While you would wait you could see all the other children and parents running out to their nature strips to purchase one of his yummy soft serve ice creams. Sometimes my parents would buy us all one and sometimes they wouldn’t. Now as a grownup I realize that they couldn’t always afford to buy us all one. But that still didn’t stop us from running out to watch Mr. Whippy do his thing. Mr. Whippy looked the splitting image of Elvis P...
