Card making in Lockdown

Card making in Lockdown

While in lockdown because of the Covid 19 virus I found it really hard to find decent cards. So I decided it was time to make some cards. I made this one for my Mother for Mothers Day.

I used quite a bit of my pastel card stock for this project but did also use up some of my scrap paper, because you always hold onto you scraps lol.

For the flower box pattern I used my Friskar's straight edge hole punch.

And for the shadowed effect on the edge of the bricks, and some of the tulips and the edges of the window I used some brown craft chalk and dusted it of the a small soft brush.

For the blind in the window I used my Creative Memories Alpine decorative scissors to get this pretty pattern.

For the embossing on the pelmet at the top of the window I really had to improvise with this part because I found that I didn't really have many tools for embossing. (Something I still need to invest in, lol, because a crafter, just like a tool man can never have enough tools lol). So for creating the lines I found that I had a Creative Memories line and wavy line cutter and I used the edge that you run the little cutting tool along to run a plastic Ranger Paper Creaser Folding and Burnishing Tool along inside that line. It was just perfect as you can see.

For the tulips I used my tulip hole punch and cut of the stems and glued the coloured petals to the lime green stems.

In the background of the window I had to draw the picture and coloured them in using a combination of my Zig pens, my Tombow pens, my Art Studio Aquarelle pens, my Mont Marte pens, and my Creative Memories pens.

To hang the buntings up, I found some left over heart shaped diamantes, that were left over from my parents 60th wedding anniversary, because we all have those left over things from other projects, lol.

For the lettering I finally used my miniature alphabet hole punches and glued them down with some Crafters Choice Tacky Glue.

For the door knob I used some of my things from my jewelry making stuff.

And for the first time I actually used my vase hole punch, I embossed it by getting a piece of foam rubber and a plastic round ended embossing tool to give it the rounded effect of a real vase by rubbing on the cut out paper vase in a circular motion. And then edging it with some brown craft chalk.

For the 4 panels to form the pattern on the doors and I used this cutter with my Sizzex machine and cut with only one end to the sizing I needed. Then turned the cut piece of card around and the card will just slot straight back into the ridges at the top and bottom and once you are happy with the width you put it back through your Sizzex machine. And its as easy as that you know have your door panels.

Who Remembers The Mr Whippy Van

Who Remembers The Mr. Whippy Van Who remembers the Mr. Whippy van driving around the neighborhood of Melbourne, Victoria? I do, it was one of my precious memories of growing up. He would play his music on his loud speaker so that everyone no matter where you were could hear that Mr. Whippy was coming. We would all run out of the house so watch him coming especially on those really hot afternoons. While you would wait you could see all the other children and parents running out to their nature strips to purchase one of his yummy soft serve ice creams. Sometimes my parents would buy us all one and sometimes they wouldn’t. Now as a grownup I realize that they couldn’t always afford to buy us all one. But that still didn’t stop us from running out to watch Mr. Whippy do his thing. Mr. Whippy looked the splitting image of Elvis Presley. We used to think he had left his job and come to serve us ice cream and sing to us in Tottenham. Because we didn’t r
