3D Printed 40 Years Loved & Blessed Cake Topper

3D Printed 40 Years Loved & Blessed Cake Topper

We couldn’t find the type of cake topper we wanted for our 40th wedding anniversary, we looked everywhere on the internet, that could get it to us in time for our party. We could find one’s for a 50th and 60th wedding anniversary, but not for a 40th.  So we decided that we would had no choice but to make it ourselves. And of course we had to use our 3D printer. Only we (Or at least my Hubby) had never used a program called “Tinker Cad” before. Tinker Cad for those that don’t know is a program that you can design your own prints.

When I asked how to design our own 3D model on Face Book on a 3D help site, I was told I needed to use a program called Tinker Cad and then I might also have to use a blender. Lol I replied with; “I know you are not talking about putting my 3D model into my kitchen blender.” There are so many symbols and jargon out there it can get confusing and frustrating, it’s like a whole other language to learn. But as they all say just persist and eventually you will get it.

Well after a couple of days of my Hubby and I researching and with the help of our amazing Daughter my Hubby finally got one printed out. We printed our model in white and sprayed it with a metallic red spray. Yes we could have brought red filament but I really wanted the metallic look and we had already spent enough money on the party and was trying to use what we already had. After all we have thrown enough parties in the past, just not decorated in red.

Now to our next project which is 3D printed imitation gothic style black hinges for a castle style cupboard we are restoring at the moment.

I do hope you have been inspired to venture and explore the whole world of 3D printing like I said don't give up. And if you have any hints and tips that you would like to share with us please feel free to leave them in the comments below.

I do hope you have a blessed week and enjoy.

How I Built A Mountain with Toilet Paper And PVC Glue

How I Built A Mountain with  Toilet Paper                             And PVC Glue  There are many techniques to use to cover your mountains and hills, like using plaster of paradise or paper Mache using paper and home made glue. I did give much consideration into using one of these two techniques, but the technique I finally decided to use, was toilet paper and PVC glue. And I am really glad I have. Because now it is finished, it is as hard as a rock but light like fibre glass. It was kind of funny at the time choosing this technique been as in this time when I had decided to start doing this, toilet paper was very hard to get and you had to que up to buy just one packet. And no I wasn't one of those people that had an abundance of it left over and needed to figure out how to use it...
