Volendam Netherlands

                                         Volendam Netherlands

During our last trip around Europe we visited our Cousin and her lovely family in Amsterdam. Amsterdam is such a beautiful very colorful place. While we were there Our Cousin took us to see this very quaint little fishing village called Volendam. It was just beautiful we fell in love with it and just didn’t want to leave, but we had to because our tour guide (our Cousin had more she wanted to show us).

Volendam is a Dutch town on the Markermeer Lake, northeast of Amsterdam. It’s known for its colorful wooden houses and the old fishing boats in its harbor, which is lined with seafood vendors. The Volendam Museum features paintings, sculptures and pottery from 1800 to the present, a gallery of traditional costumes and mosaics made from millions of cigar bands. The Palingsound Museum chronicles the local music scene.

Of course while you are in Holland you have to buy a couple of pairs of clogs and try on the biggest pair you can find and of course sneak a kiss her and there.

We had so much fun and laughs with this lovely family while visiting this beautiful part of our world. I can totally recommend a trip to Volendam well worth a look see and a big thumbs up from us.

But that still didn’t stop us from running out to watch Mr. Whippy do his thing. Mr. Whippy looked the splitting image of Elvis Presley. We used to think he had left his job and come to serve us ice cream and sing to us in Tottenham. Because we didn’t r
