Pour Out Your Life Upon Jesus This Easter

Pour Out Your Life Upon Jesus This Easter

For us as Christians Easter and the week leading up to Easter is a time to reflect on all that Jesus has done for us.

Before Easter weekend there is Mary, Lazarus’s Sister who poured out a very expensive jar of perfume on Jesus’ feet that was meant to be used for His burial. When she poured out this perfume on His feet she then took her hair and wiped the oil all over His feet. This was her way of showing how thankful, how grateful she was to Him for not only bringing her Brother back to life, (This was the reason Jesus was at their place, it was a thank you meal for giving them back their Brother), but she was also very thankful and grateful for all that He took time to teach her and His love for them. Through this very action she was pouring out her heart to Him, her life. This is an example of what we also can do, not so much pour out a bottle of expensive perfume, (But is you feel inclined to do you can, all though some other people might not appreciate the smell no matter how beautiful the perfume).

On the Sunday before Easter we celebrate Palm Sunday, remembering the Triumphal Entry Jesus made when He rode on a donkey into Jerusalem. This was to fore fill Scripture and also to come out for it was finally Jesus’ time to stop holding back from all that He was sent to earth to do for us, it was time to glorify His Father. Up until this point Jesus kept on saying, “No it is not yet my time.” There is a lot of celebration with this Sunday.

Then there is Ash Wednesday which mostly the high churches take part in this. It is actually the Day of Ashes; it is a time to repent.

Then there is Maundy Thursday or Holy Thursday which is the day that Jesus shared the Passover meal with his disciples. Maundy is derived from the Latin word for “command” and refers to Jesus’ commandment to the disciples to “Love one another as I have loved you.” Jesus showed His disciples His love by becoming a servant and washing their feet. This is also a ceremony that is mostly carried out by the older churches not so much the new style churches.

Next we have Good Friday, this is a day of darkness, the day that we reflect on the beating that Jesus took upon Himself for us to free us from all pain, sickness, and disease, so that we who believe in Jesus might not have to bare these things for He does not want us to be suffering. It is also the day that He was crucified for us. When the soldiers hammered the nails into the palm of His hands and He shed His bleed he was also doing this for us for the forgiveness of our sins. He loved us that much that He was willing to go through all this for us so that we would be free from all pain sickness shame condemnation and guilt ridden by our sin.

This service is quite a solemn service more like a funeral as that is what it is about Jesus’ death.

Then we come together on Easter Sunday and Celebrate for this day was the day that He was raised from the dead and He holds the victory for us in His nail pierced hands free for us to take love a life of victory and in freedom. Hallelujah.

This is a very condensed version of all that happens and did happen for us during Easter Week or Holy Week.

And yes we do celebrate with the celebrations of Easter Bunny and egg giving, well at least our family do and so do the church that we belong to.

I do hope you enjoy all that Jesus has for you over this next week and enjoy.

Who Remembers The Mr Whippy Van

Who Remembers The Mr. Whippy Van Who remembers the Mr. Whippy van driving around the neighborhood of Melbourne, Victoria? I do, it was one of my precious memories of growing up. He would play his music on his loud speaker so that everyone no matter where you were could hear that Mr. Whippy was coming. We would all run out of the house so watch him coming especially on those really hot afternoons. While you would wait you could see all the other children and parents running out to their nature strips to purchase one of his yummy soft serve ice creams. Sometimes my parents would buy us all one and sometimes they wouldn’t. Now as a grownup I realize that they couldn’t always afford to buy us all one. But that still didn’t stop us from running out to watch Mr. Whippy do his thing. Mr. Whippy looked the splitting image of Elvis Presley. We used to think he had left his job and come to serve us ice cream and sing to us in Tottenham. Because we didn’t r
