"Do Not Be Afraid"

    "Do Not Be Afraid"

I love the nativity stories, the story of Jesus’ birth and announcement of His coming.

One of the reasons I love the stories of Jesus’ birth, in Matthew is that an angel, a messenger from Abba Father, appeared to Joseph, after he had found out that Mary, his wife was pregnant and was considering divorcing her, because he knew that he had not slept with her. Then an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph and the first thing the angel says to him is “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid”…… Because Abba Father knew what Joseph was considering and wanted Joseph to not be afraid.

Matthew 1:20

20 But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.

In Luke Abba Father sends another angel, (We do not know if this is the same angel that He sent to Joseph), to Zechariah to let him know that his wife would bare him a son. The first thing the angel says to Zechariah is: “Do not be afraid, Zechariah”……. Abba Father doesn’t want Zechariah to be afraid either and He doesn’t want us to be afraid, for these words are written for us as well.

Luke 1:11-13

11 Then an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing at the right side of the altar of incense. 12 When Zechariah saw him, he was startled and was gripped with fear. 13 But the angel said to him: “Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to call him John.

Then Abba Father sends His angel Gabriel to Mary, to tell her all of which is about to happened to her and about her relative, and once again the angel tells her: “Do not be afraid.” But this time he also says to Mary: “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.” And also “You have found favor with God.” How amazing are these words, for they are not just for Mary but for us as well. Yes you are highly favored. Abba loves all His Children and everyone of them are highly favored not just Mary for there are so many Scriptures in the Bible that back this up.

Luke 1:28-30

28 The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”

29 Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. 30 But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God.

I pray that you would now our heavenly Father’s Shalom peace and His amazing love, and that you would know that you are highly favored in the eyes of our Father. I also pray that you would have a blessed week full of His abundance of grace. In Jesus name I pray. Hallelujah and Amen.

Who Remembers The Mr Whippy Van

Who Remembers The Mr. Whippy Van Who remembers the Mr. Whippy van driving around the neighborhood of Melbourne, Victoria? I do, it was one of my precious memories of growing up. He would play his music on his loud speaker so that everyone no matter where you were could hear that Mr. Whippy was coming. We would all run out of the house so watch him coming especially on those really hot afternoons. While you would wait you could see all the other children and parents running out to their nature strips to purchase one of his yummy soft serve ice creams. Sometimes my parents would buy us all one and sometimes they wouldn’t. Now as a grownup I realize that they couldn’t always afford to buy us all one. But that still didn’t stop us from running out to watch Mr. Whippy do his thing. Mr. Whippy looked the splitting image of Elvis Presley. We used to think he had left his job and come to serve us ice cream and sing to us in Tottenham. Because we didn’t r
